Dear LPS Counselors, Psychologists, Administrators, and Music Teachers,

I am Nancy Etchason, proud parent of two (gainfully employed, college-educated) LPS graduates, and a member of the Etch-A-Foundation Board. I am writing to introduce you to the Etch-A-Future.

We are an instrument of change, and hopefully, a welcome addition to your toolbox to aid LPS students in realizing their full potential.  We also provide a means, which may detract a youngster from making poor choices that could be detrimental to their future success.

We believe by providing an opportunity for the students to participate (initially) in a year-long program at the Littleton School of Rock, we begin the process of making a real difference in the lives of these students.

Our mission is to harness the power of music to provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth to develop character, accountability, confidence, and positive relationships. We aim to provide the funds for students to ignite or further expand their passion for music through a year-long scholarship at the Littleton School of Rock.

With your help getting the word out, we believe we can make a real difference in the lives of these students by helping them realize their full potential and deterring them from poor decisions.

What will our candidates look like?

We suspect that our candidates may already be involved in music, but not necessarily. They probably have never heard of School of Rock, and most likely, they do not know that something like this exists. This is where you can plant the seed for them. They will perform on stage, be introduced to a stable peer group, and develop further confidence in themselves. They truly have the opportunity to be a rock star!

Our candidate will likely have parental or guardian support, but no financial means to attend this type of program (approximately $XXXX per month). Practice and dedication will be key components, and hopefully, the student will be or will become passionate about their choice, so that becomes easy. Transportation will not be provided to the School of Rock, so applicants will need to have someone who can drive them. Instruments can be provided and vocal training is also available.

What does the selection process look like?

We are ready to provide scholarships immediately. Please provide any potential students that you believe to be a good fit for a Foundation scholarship the attached Google survey for them to complete online. We will then interview the candidates, through a Google Meet. Our decision will be based on these factors, as well as your recommendation.

The success of the Foundation is based on you helping us locate potential candidates. Thank you in advance and let’s rock!

Sincerely,

Nancy Etchason
